Privacy Policy
Currency Converter is published and operated by the Currency Converter developer ("we", "us", "our"), an individual developer rather than a registered company. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Currency Converter mobile application for Android (package md.appenginex.converter) and iOS (the "App"). It covers the App only, not the websites or services of third parties.
- You do not need an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or location.
- Your currency list, amounts, custom (personalized) rates and settings are stored only on your device. They are never included in analytics or crash reports.
- The App downloads exchange rates from a third-party rate provider. The request contains no personal data beyond what any internet connection reveals (such as your IP address).
- Android only: the free version shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. Ads may be personalized only where you allow it. Premium subscribers do not see ads. The iOS version shows no ads.
- Premium subscriptions (monthly and annual) and the lifetime purchase are paid through Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your card or payment details.
- The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to count how features are used and to fix crashes. This data is tied to a random installation ID, not to you, and is not used for advertising or tracking.
- We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we process
The App is built to work with as little data as possible. We do not run our own servers for the App, and we do not operate user accounts. We use Google's Firebase services for usage analytics and crash reports (section 6). The information processed falls into these groups:
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Your selected currencies, crypto and metals, entered amounts, personalized rates, widget configuration, language, theme and other settings | To run the App and remember your preferences | Only on your device (see section 2) |
| Cached exchange rates | To show rates offline and after the last refresh | Only on your device |
| IP address and basic request data (time, app network client) | Technically needed to download exchange rates | The exchange-rate provider (section 3) |
| Advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device and app information, ad interactions, consent choices | To show, measure and limit ads, and to prevent ad fraud (Android free version only) | Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform (section 4) |
| Purchase history, subscription status, a random anonymous app user ID, store country, device and OS type | To sell, validate and restore Premium and unlock it on your device | Google Play / Apple App Store and RevenueCat (section 5) |
| A random app-instance ID, events such as screens opened, conversions made (currency codes only), searches made (result count only) and Premium screens viewed, session information, device model, OS and app version, language, and approximate location (country or region) derived from the IP address | To understand in aggregate which features are used and improve the App | Google Analytics for Firebase (section 6) |
| Crash reports: stack traces, app state at the time of the crash, device model, OS and app version, and a random installation ID | To find and fix crashes and errors | Firebase Crashlytics (section 6) |
| Your email and whatever you write to us | To answer support requests you choose to send | Our support mailbox (section 16) |
The App does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or phone state. On first launch it may use the region setting of your device, locally, to preselect your likely home currency. That setting is not sent anywhere.
2. Data stored on your device
Your currency list, amounts, personalized rates, cached rates, widget settings and preferences are kept in a local database on your device. We cannot see or access them. Home-screen widgets read the same local data.
You can erase this data at any time with Settings → Privacy and data → Reset app data, or by uninstalling the App.
On Android, if you have enabled device backup in your Google account, Android may include the App's local data in your encrypted device backup and restore it on a new device. This backup is managed by Google under your Google account settings, not by us.
3. Exchange-rate requests
To show current rates, the App downloads a rate snapshot over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection from FXRatesAPI. The request asks only for rate data. It does not include your amounts, your currency list or any identifier of you or your device. Like any web server, the provider receives your IP address and standard connection information and handles it under its own privacy policy.
4. Advertising (Android only)
The free Android version shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. There are no full-screen, video or rewarded ads, and the iOS version contains no advertising. Ads are removed once you have an active Premium entitlement.
To serve ads, Google may collect and use your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and information about the ads you see and tap. Google uses this to deliver and measure ads, to cap how often you see them and to prevent fraud and abuse. Where permitted, Google may also use it to personalize ads.
Consent
We use Google's User Messaging Platform, a certified consent management platform under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. Where the law requires it, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the App asks for your consent before ads are requested. If you decline personalized advertising, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which are based on context such as the App itself and your general location rather than on your profile. Where US state privacy laws apply, the same tool lets you opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for advertising.
You can review or change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy and data → Privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
Currency Premium is offered as monthly and annual auto-renewing subscriptions and as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the App before you buy.
- Payments are processed entirely by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). We never receive your name, card number, billing address or other payment details.
- RevenueCat, our subscription management provider, receives the store's purchase receipt or token, a random anonymous app user ID generated on your device, product and transaction identifiers, purchase and renewal dates, store country and currency, and basic device and OS information. We use this only to confirm your purchase, unlock Premium, restore purchases and keep financial records. We do not link it to your name or email.
- Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can cancel or manage a subscription in your Google Play account (Subscriptions) or in your Apple ID settings. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription. Refunds follow the rules of the store you purchased from.
6. Analytics and crash reports
On Android and iOS the App uses two Google services, both acting as our processors:
- Google Analytics for Firebase records how the App is used: which screens are opened, which currency pairs are converted, whether a search returned results, when a personalized rate is saved or reset, and how the Premium screen is used. Each installation gets a random app-instance ID. Google derives an approximate location (country or region) from a masked IP address; the App does not use your device's location services.
- Firebase Crashlytics sends a report when the App crashes or hits a serious error, with the technical details needed to fix it.
What is not sent: the amounts you type, conversion results, the text you search for, the value of your personalized rates, your name, email or any account identifier. We do not set a user ID. On iOS the App never asks for tracking permission, so the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to it. On Android, where the Google Mobile Ads SDK is present, Google Analytics may also read the Android advertising ID; you can reset or delete it in your device settings (section 4). Analytics data is not used for advertising and is not combined with data from other apps for tracking. Ad-personalization signals are turned off for analytics.

7. Third-party services
These providers process data as described above, under their own privacy policies:
| Provider | Purpose | Platform | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK | Advertising | Android | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google User Messaging Platform | Ad consent | Android | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Play Billing | Payments | Android | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Apple App Store / StoreKit | Payments | iOS | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Subscription management | Android, iOS | revenuecat.com/privacy |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Usage analytics | Android, iOS | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting | Android, iOS | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| FXRatesAPI | Exchange-rate data | Android, iOS | fxratesapi.com |
Google Play and the App Store may also collect crash and performance diagnostics about the App under your device and store settings. We only see these in aggregated or anonymized form in the store consoles.
8. Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR or Swiss data-protection law applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract: to provide the App, process and restore Premium purchases.
- Consent: for personalized advertising and for storing or reading information on your device for advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time in Privacy choices.
- Legitimate interests: to download exchange rates, measure App usage in aggregate, find and fix crashes, show non-personalized ads that fund the free version, prevent fraud and keep the App secure.
- Legal obligation: to keep transaction records required by tax and accounting laws.
9. Data retention
- On-device data stays until you reset it in the App or uninstall the App.
- Purchase records held by RevenueCat and the stores are kept while you use Premium and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Analytics event data is kept for no more than 14 months, according to the retention setting in our Google Analytics property. Crash reports are kept by Crashlytics for 90 days.
- Advertising data is retained by Google according to its own policies.
- Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request, and no longer than 24 months.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can:
- erase all App data with Reset app data or by uninstalling the App;
- change advertising consent in Privacy choices (Android);
- reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings;
- object to analytics and crash reporting, or ask us to delete the analytics data linked to your installation, by contacting us (section 16);
- ask us to delete purchase data held by RevenueCat for your app user ID by contacting us (section 16). Include your Google Play or App Store order number so we can find the right record.
Because we do not hold accounts or identify you, we may need information such as a store order number to find the data you are asking about. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
11. US state privacy rights
Residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws may have the right to know, access, correct and delete personal information and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Allowing Google to use data for personalized ads in the Android free version may count as "sharing" under these laws. You can opt out through Privacy choices in the App or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
12. Children
The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security
All network traffic from the App uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Local data is protected by your device's operating-system sandbox. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information described here.
14. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws differ from those in your country. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or the law changes. The new version will be posted on this page with an updated date. If a change materially affects how your data is used, we will also tell you in the App or in the store listing.
16. Contact
Questions, requests or complaints about privacy:
Email: codeplay.md@gmail.com
We answer within 30 days.
You can also reach us from the App via Settings → Support → Contact us.
