If something is broken, four lines make the difference between a guess and a fix:
A screenshot is worth more than a description of a screen. Please do not send us your CV file unless we ask for it — see privacy below.
Open the CV, look at the preview, and tap Download. Folio renders an A4 PDF on the device — no server is involved and no internet connection is needed — and then each platform hands it over the way that platform expects:

On Android, into Downloads — open it from the notification, from your Files app, or from the message the app shows. On iPhone and iPad, wherever you sent it from the share sheet; Folio does not keep a folder of its own. If you dismissed the sheet by accident, tap Download again — nothing was lost and nothing was left half-written.
The app names the cause rather than saying “error”: not enough free space, a CV with no sections filled in yet, or an export you cancelled. If you see something else, or a message that does not match what you did, send us that exact wording — it points straight at the line of code that produced it.
A free export carries one discreet Folio line on the page. There are two ways to get a clean PDF instead: buy Folio PRO, or — on Android — watch a short video, which unlocks one clean export. You are asked before the file is written, and you can always take the export as it is.
Nothing else is stamped on the page, and the line never covers your text or changes the layout of the template.
Not today. Folio exports PDF only, at A4, which is the format and the page size the templates are designed and measured for.
While you edit, Folio tells you what the page is doing — Fits on 1 page, 2 pages, or how many lines are overflowing. A CV that overflows still exports; the indicator is there so the overflow is your decision rather than a surprise.
When you want it back on one page, in the order that usually works:
If you already have a CV as a PDF, Folio can read it and fill the fields in for you instead of you retyping the whole thing. Pick the file, confirm, and check the result — it is a starting point, not a perfect copy, and how clean it comes out depends on how the original was made. A PDF that is really a scanned photograph of a page will not import well.
This is the one feature that sends your CV off the device. The file is uploaded to our server, the text in it is read by a language-model provider so it can be turned into fields, and we keep no copy of the file or the text once the import has finished. If you would rather that did not happen, do not use import — typing a CV in by hand sends nothing anywhere.
Import needs a connection and can be temporarily unavailable. Everything else in Folio works offline.
No. Folio has no sign-up, no password and no server of ours behind it. Everything you type is written to storage private to the app, on the device you typed it on, and the app works with no internet connection at all.
No. Because nothing is uploaded, there is nothing to sync. A CV created on your phone exists on that phone.
Export the PDFs you care about first, and keep them somewhere you control. If your device backup is switched on — iCloud Backup on iPhone and iPad, Google One on Android — the app's data may travel with that backup when you restore the new device, but that backup belongs to Apple or Google and we cannot see it, guarantee it, or restore it for you.
Removing the app removes its private storage with it, and we have no copy to send you — that is the direct consequence of never receiving your data. Exported PDFs are unaffected; they live wherever you saved them.
A photo is optional, and several templates are designed without one. When you add one, Folio asks your device for access to your photo library — you can refuse, and the rest of the app carries on working. The photo is cropped on the device and stored with the CV. It is never uploaded. Removing the photo, or deleting the CV, removes it. A template that has a photo area does not draw an empty frame when there is no photo: the space closes up and the rest of the page moves into it.
Whether to put a photo on a CV at all depends on where you are applying: it is normal in much of Europe and discouraged in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The app's interface is available in 12 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian and Indonesian. It follows your device language, and you can override it in Settings → Language.
The language of the app and the language of your CV are separate things. You can write the CV in any language you can type on your device, whatever the interface is set to.
There are 44 templates. Switching between them never retypes anything — your content is stored once and the template only decides how it is drawn, so you can change your mind at any point, including after you have exported.
So that you do not spend time looking for them, these do not exist in the app today:

The short form: the CV you write is stored on your device, and what the app sends on its own is anonymous crash and usage information — which screen was opened, which template was chosen, whether an export finished — never a line of what you wrote.
The one thing that does upload your CV is the PDF import above, and only when you start it. The file goes to our server, its text is read by a language-model provider so it can be turned into fields, and we keep no copy afterwards. Section 7 of the policy is exact about it. If you would rather nothing left the device, type the CV in instead — everything else in the app works offline.
To delete the CVs themselves, delete them in the app, or remove the app. For anything concerning the diagnostic data — a copy of it, or its deletion — write to codeplay.md@gmail.com with “Privacy” in the subject line, and read section 12 of the policy first; it explains what we can and cannot look up, given that we do not know who you are.
Folio is free to download and free to use. You can write a CV, choose from the free templates and export it without paying and without an account.
Folio PRO unlocks every template, exports without the Folio line, and removes advertising. The price and what it includes are shown inside the app before you confirm anything.
Ads are Android-only, and only ever a video you choose to watch. There are no banners and nothing interrupts you. The one place a video is offered is the export screen, as a way to get a clean PDF without paying — and that screen always also lets you export without watching. There is no advertising at all on iPhone and iPad. In Europe you are asked for consent before the first video; you can switch ad personalisation off at any time in your device’s Settings → Google → Ads, and PRO removes the offer entirely.
Refunds. Purchases are handled by the store you installed the app from and not by us: we cannot see your receipt and we cannot issue a refund. Those requests go to reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, or through Google Play’s order history on Android. A purchase that did not unlock what it should have is a bug, and that one is ours — write to us, and try Restore purchases on the paywall screen first.
